Sunday Service:

Pastors and Leaders

We are one big family, one body, in Christ Jesus.

Elder Jerry Westerfield

Pastor Jerry Westerfield has served the body of Christ for over 40 years. During this time, he planted churches in Brazil and in Peru where he continues to serve with an Apostolic team. He has served the Bethesda church for the last 11 years and is committed to help raise up leaders to fulfill their call. He also serves the Church of God of Prophecy as a district Presbyter and serves on their licensing committee for the state of Kentucky. He has a masters degree in ministry. He also has been married to Sarita for 39 years and they have 3 kids and 6 grandchildren.

Elder Douglas Spainhower

Pastor Douglas Spainhower has faithfully served for over 40 years. Born into a minister's family, he started his journey of developing a relationship with God at a young age. Along the way his path has been full of ups, downs, twists, turns, success and failures but his focus has always been to learn more. He believes we learn of God and ourselves through our relationships with others. He has had the opportunity to learn of God through his marriage to his wife Renate, and as father of his three children, Makayla, Chancellor, and Christian. Each of these relationships brought new insight into how God sees and loves us and how we are to see and love others. He has also had the opportunity to learn of God while working as an Engineer, manager, business owner, college instructor and a mission team leader on short term mission trips. He believes these multicultural experiences provide visibility to an even greater understanding of God's wonderous mercy and love for us all.

Elder Douglas Gibson

Pastor Douglas Gibson, married to Kimberly for 36.5 years, is the father of two daughters and grandfather of Gunner and Sydney. He has a pastoral gift and passion for the lost and in giving men a second chance in life. He currently serves as the outreach pastor and one of the elders at Bethesda. He has served the body of Christ for over 34 years faithfully in various capacities.

Elder Fred Jones

Pastor Freddie (Fred) Jones is a native of Charleston Tennessee. Along with his wife Jessica, they have two children, Dakota, and Zachary, two beautiful daughter in laws Dariane and Zoe and two grandchildren David and Alaina. Soon after Pastor Fred and Jessica started attending Bethesda, Pastor Fred felt called to rededicate his life to God and they both became members of Bethesda. Through the mentorship of Elders Jerry Westerfield and Douglas Spainhower he was able to discover what it truly meant to form a relationship with Christ. Pastor Fred serves as the Men's Pastor. He feels the Lord tug him to build strong men who in turn build strong families and take the role God has called men to be. (Ephesians 5:21-33) Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church. He believes in equipping men with the tools to carry out this mission. Pastor Fred is a retired United States Marine. He recently received his Master's degree through Impact School of Ministry.

Elder Sean Kirk

Pastor Sean Kirk has served at Bethesda House of Mercy for six years. Originally from Ohio, Sean felt a call of the Lord to move to Elizabethtown, KY and completely surrender his life to Christ. Now, he enjoys being the Youth Pastor and working alongside a great group of passionate leaders. You'll see him playing acoustic guitar and helping to lead worship at Bethesda. He also is a part of the Church of God of Prophecy state youth regional team and enjoys being a part of reaching the youth around the state of Kentucky. His passion comes from Matthew 10:8, which says, "Freely you have received, freely give." Pastor Sean recently married his wife, Makayla, and now they look forward to impacting lives together.
